Well, it was certainly another very exciting day. Leaders in both fleets can sleep tight, as they both have a respectable advantage. It was a great day yesterday for Croats Matija Longin and Pavle Kostov, although the day did not start well, when they found out that the Greek team Vassilas/Mitakis got redress for third race.
- I was a little bit nervous in the morning, when I saw the notice bord, but then I concentrated on preparing my boat for today's racing. We were calm and very determined to do our best. We are now so close to the medal, and I am overwhelmed. But we have three more races to go, so we'll see how things will end up. - said Matija Longin with a big smile.
Yesterday was a very good day for Santurde Del Arc/Quevedo Torices (ESP) also. One first and one second place pushed them up the leaderboard to third place overall.
- The two first races were very good. This is the kind of wind I like. Today were totaly my conditions. In the last race we didn't do that good, because the wind dropped and we did not have a good start. In the first two races we had a good start, we tacked good following the wind. The wind was less shifty than sofar. I am very happy. - told us Pablo.
Portuguese Mendes/Baptiste were also satisfied with their score yesterday.
- It was good today, we had a fourth, 14th and 8th place and we are satisfied with that. It was good on the sea today because the wind was good for us. We were only one point behind the Croats after five races in the finals. We'll see what happens tomorrow. We are confident that we can still make a progress. - thinks Paulo.
But the Greeks Vassilas/Mitakis were very disappointed, they had really a bad day.
- It looked very good this morning, but it wasn' t that good. Only the first race was good for us. We should have finished 4th or 5th, but we lost many places because of one mistake. We hoped to do better in next two races, but nothing was better. We had so much bad luck, so I hope that tomorrow we will be better and have more luck. I hope that after today we will still be in the first four places so that we get a revange tomorrow, but it will be difficult. We destroyed everything today. - said Evangelos with an obvious sadness.
In the girls' fleet there is just one more race left. Pippa Wilson and Harriete Trumble (GBR) are leading by 9 points. They did not sail that well yesterday, but they never finished out of top ten.
- Gold, yes, we are almost there.. but we had a really hard day today, very tricky conditions, and I don't think there were many people consisted today. First two races we got narrowed at the start so we had to push really hard to get back. We are not very pleased how we sailed. It was tough. Some breeze were shifty and oscilating, and sometimes it just failed in from one side. It is nice to have and advantage before the last race. I usually have a big job to do in the last race, so this feels good. - laughed Pippa.
Antoher British team dominated yesterday on the women's course. Alison Martin and Maia Walsh are in the second place now. They had a great day with two first and one second place.
- Today was brilliant, we are verry happy. We started better today, which was nice. We are in a very good position for a medal before the final race. It will be very exciting. Wind was ok, we like today's weather. It was more stabile than the last days. - said Alison.
Italians Turizio/Rendano are only two points behind, so today's final race will certainly provide a good battle for silver medal.
- I am satisfied with the first and the last race, but not with the second. We finished 10th, we lost 4-5 places in that race, and that pushed us down the leaderboard. We simply had bad luck in the second race. The difference in points is very small and there is only one race left. - told us Maria Carolina.
Start is again scheduled for noon, last warning signal can be given at 16.00.
